Social Issues & Civil Rights

Addressing social issues and protecting the rights and interests of protected classes.

The City Bar is dedicated to addressing unmet legal needs, especially the needs of traditionally disadvantaged groups and individuals. We work to mobilize the legal profession to engage in activities that promote social justice, human rights, and democratic values and principles. Our committees address a wide range of social and civil rights issues in their policy work – including animal law, social welfare, consumer protections, gender issues, education and the rights of protected classes.

Our Criminal Justice, Police Reform and Civil Rights section addresses the intersection of criminal laws, policing and racial justice, and contains information regarding City Bar reports and programming on those subjects.
