Serving the Community

The New York City Bar Association serves the community in a number of ways.

Members of the public can find a lawyer through our Legal Referral Service.

The City Bar Fund, the 501(c)(3) sister organization of the City Bar,  undertakes public service, education, policy advocacy and research activities and supports such activities for a number of City Bar programs.

The City Bar Justice Center (or “CBJC”) provides and expands access to justice for low-income and disadvantaged New Yorkers citywide by leveraging the pro bono expertise and time of the New York City legal community.

The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice provides pro bono legal support to human rights and environmental organizations in Latin America, Africa, and elsewhere in the world.

The Office for Diversity works with New York City legal employers to foster more diverse and inclusive work environments.

The Lawyer Assistance Program is a free, confidential service, available to attorneys, judges, law students and their family members in New York City who are struggling with alcohol or drug abuse, depression, anxiety, stress, as well as other addictions and mental health issues.
