Ethics Hotline

New York lawyers faced with ethical questions regarding their own prospective conduct can reach the Ethics Hotline at 212.382.6624.

Operated by the Committee on Professional Ethics, the hotline is staffed by committee members who can often answer the inquiry promptly over the phone. Otherwise, a timely written response is sent to the caller. The Committee also publishes written opinions on ethical issues of broad interest.

The hotline is intended only for attorneys inquiring about their own prospective conduct. Complaints and inquiries regarding unethical conduct of lawyers should be addressed to the Grievance or Disciplinary Committee in the area in which the lawyer practices (see http://www.courts.state.ny.us/ip/attorneygrievance/complaints.shtml).
