Andrew T. Hahn, Sr.

Andrew Hahn is a partner in the Trial Group of Duane Morris LLP’s New York Office.  Throughout his career practicing in private law firms, Andy has handled various commercial litigation cases. Since November, 2007, Andy has been certified as a Neutral for the American Arbitration Association. Andy received his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1986, and a B.A. in History, cum laude, from Cornell University in 1983, when he was also commissioned as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the Army ROTC Program.  He served on active duty as a Captain of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1986 to 1990, and on reserve status from 1990 to 1996.

Andy is a past President of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) and the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) and was active for many years as a Board member with the Korean American Lawyers Association of Greater New York, which bestowed upon him the honor of a Trailblazer’s Award in February 2008.

Andy’s longstanding commitment to the advancement of diverse attorneys has led to tangible results both in the workplace and in the Asian Pacific American (APA) and broader legal community. While at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, Andy played a key role in institutionalizing the firm’s diversity practices and was a founding member of their Diversity Action Team. When Andy first joined Seyfarth in 2002, the New York Office had only 4 diverse associates and he was the only diverse partner; by early 2008, the New York Office had 10 diverse associates and 5 diverse partners. Andy also encouraged younger attorneys at Seyfarth to assume leadership positions within the Diversity Action Team and championed the promotion of several diverse attorneys to partnership.

In addition, Andy has actively served and supported specialty bar associations throughout his career. Significantly, through his work with NAPABA and AABANY, Andy has tirelessly advocated for a more diverse bench. To date, Andy’s efforts have been instrumental in the appointment of 9 APA Article III judges, including the most recent confirmation of Hon. Edward Chen, and one APA Circuit Judge. Motivated by the belief that the legal profession is more effective if it reflects the society it serves, Andy has taken many risks to further enhance the diversity of the judiciary and the legal community.
