Volunteer Attorneys Win Bond for Detained Immigrant

Volunteers from Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy LLP recently won a habeas case for a detainee eligible for 212(c) relief. The volunteers requested a bond hearing for the detainee, at which the IJ refused to set bond despite dismissal of the relevant criminal charges. The Southern District signed an Order to Show Cause, and the IJ was ultimately required to set bond. The volunteers are now working with the detainee's family to gather the money and release him from detention.
