Cancer Advocacy Project
Overview

When faced with a cancer diagnosis, many individuals find themselves tackling not only emotional and physical distress, but also the soaring price of basic medical care and the daunting maze of the U.S. health care system. Even mid- to high-income individuals may find themselves unable to afford the care they need, and those seeking public assistance often face an even greater struggle.
The Cancer Advocacy Project (CAP), established in 1994, is a resource for cancer patients, cancer survivors and their families who are experiencing a variety of legal problems or complications. Assistance with wills, public benefits, discrimination in the workplace, health law and insurance issues is made available free of charge to New Yorkers who are unable to afford an attorney.
