The City Bar Chorus (the “CBC”), now celebrating its 15th season, was founded by the New York City Bar in 1993 and is New York City’s only “all-legal” community outreach vocal group. Honored by NY1 News as "New
Yorkers of the Week" in
2004, the CBC’s
60 members are attorneys, paralegals, legal staffers, law students and
judges. Even our musical director, Kathryn Schneider, and our accompanist,
Matthew Grieco, are attorneys. For information
about our chorus leaders, click here.
All members contribute their time and talents on a volunteer basis. Click
here for more information on joining the CBC.

The CBC's primary mission is to reach out to the community through music.
We do this by singing at community venues, such as senior residences and nursing
homes, AIDS residences, and pediatric and rehabilitation facilities. Examples
of some of the facilities where we have performed include the Jewish Home and
Hospital, the Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home, the Brown Gardens senior residence,
the Salvation Army Manhattan Adult Rehabilitation Center, and the Visions at
Selis Manor program for the visually impaired. Click here
for a complete list of our venues and for information on how to contact us
to set up a performance.
Our repertoire ranges from Broadway to the Beatles and from jazz to gospel.
Click here for a selective list of our recent
repertoire. A typical CBC show not only has us singing for the audience, but
also gets the audience singing with us – through our member-led "singalongs," which
we customize for the audiences we are entertaining.
Our group has received several commendations and awards, including an Excellence
in Public Service Award from The Hundred Year
Association of New York, a longstanding organization that honors those
businesses and groups that it feels have enriched the life of the City. For

Although community outreach is the CBC’s primary mission, we have performed at a number of local and national bar association events. We also sing at the elegant landmark headquarters of the City Bar for colleagues, friends and family.
