Submit a project or request assistance

The Vance Center facilitates cross-border technical assistance and pro bono legal services to law firms and social justice organizations in Latin America and Africa. To obtain pro bono assistance, foreign organizations can submit matters to the Vance Center's International Clearinghouse or request help with capacity building projects.

To submit a matter or request technical assistance email vance@nycbar.org or see below. Make sure to indicate the subject of your request as either "International Clearinghouse" or "Technical Assistance."

Global Clearinghouse

The Vance Center's Global Clearinghouse matches community-based organizations, not-for-profit institutions and groups of attorneys working on a voluntary basis on behalf of the poor and marginalized with attorneys who provide free legal assistance. The Clearinghouse refers projects within four categories: Amicus Network, Legal Research, Public Interest Litigation and Technical Assistance.

Technical Assistance and Capacity Building

The Vance Center organizes technical assistance projects to support law firms, bar associations, law schools and social justice organizations in Latin America and Africa that use law in the service of the public good. These projects have used telephone and videoconferencing, research papers, and internships and exchanges to promote skills- and knowledge-sharing.
