Elchi Nowrojee is a Director and
Counsel at Credit Suisse in the Legal and Compliance Department of the
Asset Management division, based in New York. He has responsibility for
Private Equity Fund Structuring for the Alternative Investments
businesses.
Mr. Nowrojee joined Credit Suisse
in November 2006 from Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP, an
international law firm, where he specialized in complex financial
transactions, including private investment fund formation, strategic
partnerships and private acquisitions.
While at Cleary Gottlieb, Mr. Nowrojee represented a number of clients
investing in African companies, forming African investment funds or with
other Africa-related businesses. He assisted in legislative monitoring for
African multilateral clients and participated actively in Africa business
development.
Mr.
Nowrojee currently chairs the Committee on African Affairs of the
Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Mr. Nowrojee has worked
and lived in Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.
Mr. Nowrojee holds a degree in
African Studies from Yale College, an M.Phil in International Relations
from St Antony’s College, Oxford University (where he was a Rhodes
Scholar) and a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School. Mr. Nowrojee
is licensed to practise law in New York, Massachusetts and the District of
Columbia.
