Barry Kamins is the President of the New York City Bar Association. A respected and skillful advocate and scholar, Barry is the
acknowledged expert in the State of New York in the area of illegal
searches and seizures. He is the author of "New York Search and Seizure,"
the book used by lawyers, prosecutors and judges throughout the State.
Barry is an adjunct professor at Brooklyn and Fordham Law Schools, and
frequently lectures to judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys
throughout the State.
Also a former member of the Kings County District Attorney's office,
which he left in 1973 as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Court Bureau to join
Flamhaft Levy Kamins Hirsch & Rendeiro LLP, Barry has served as President of both the Brooklyn Bar
Assoc. and the Kings County Criminal Bar Assoc. and as Chair of the
Grievance Committee of the Appellate Division, Second Dept. 2nd and 11th
Judicial Districts.
Barry has served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the
Association of the Bar of the City of New York as well as
chairman of that prestigious organization's Judiciary Committee. He is
co-chair of the New York State Chief Judge's Advisory Committee on
Criminal Law, and is on the editorial board of the New York Law Journal.
It is a tribute to Barry's reputation that that he has represented many
attorneys and judges who have needed legal advice and representation.
