Briefs Argue Against Discrimination in Chile
Amicus briefs
placed by the Vance Center's
International
Pro Bono Clearinghouse
were recently filed with the
Inter-American Commission and the Inter-American Court on Human Rights in
two discrimination cases.
In one case,
a woman lost custody of her children because of her sexual orientation,
and in another, a victim of domestic violence was fired from her job.

Vance Center Staff
Felipe
Lecaros, a Chilean lawyer with corporate
and public interest law experience
in both Chile and the United States,
joins the Vance Center as coordinator
for the Global Network for Justice
Initiatives.

South
African Visiting Lawyer Program Soon in Its Fifth Year
In
2002 the City Bar and the Vance Center launched a fellowship program to
bring young black lawyers from South Africa to New York to work for a year
in law firms and corporate legal departments.
