welcomed its sixth
group of South African visiting
lawyers to New York
for a year of intensive training and

Promoting Latin American Women in the
Legal Profession
In April, Carrie Cohen, the chair
of the New York City Bar's Committee on
Women in the Profession, and Vance
Center executive director Joan Vermeulen
traveled to Argentina to meet with women
lawyers and academics working to advance
the status of women in the legal
profession. The roundtable has led to a
series of follow-up meetings among women
lawyers in Argentina to share strategies
for addressing common challenges women
