United States discuss the development of pro bono legal services in
the United States and Latin America. |
In January 2007, a country conference was
held on the emerging pro bono movement in Peru. The Vance Center
collaborated with the Instituto de Democracia y Derechos Humanos de la
Pontíficia Universidad Católica del Perú (IDEHPUCP) in the organization of
the conference. The program included a dialogue about Latin American and
U.S. approaches to developing pro bono programs and a discussion of the
particular challenges and opportunities for pro bono in Peru. Panelists
included leaders of Peru's legal profession as well as lawyers from
Argentina, Chile, Colombia and the United States. The conference was
attended by lawyers in public and private practice in Peru.
