This web page will publish a series of articles about the experience
of a senior lawyer coming to the point of a career change. The first
article is a report by the Senior Lawyers Committee addressing the
impact of mandatory retirement rules of some law firms on attorneys
who are eager to devote their skills and experience to our society’s
pressing needs. The article sets forth a unique proposal for “marrying” the
talents of a senior lawyer with a significant commitment to the pro
bono work of her/his law firm.
Other articles include a dynamic speech by Stephen J. Friedman, Dean,
Pace University Law School, and former partner, Debevois Plimpton.
Dean Friedman sets forth a step by step practical approach to planning
for retirement. Roger Pugh, former Chair of the Senior Lawyers Committee,
summarizes the international law work he has done in Paraguay, the
Ukraine and Croatia.
