The European Affairs Committee of the New York City Bar Association presents

Turkey and its Role in Europe

A new comedy written by Myron D. Cohen, author of the biennial 12th Nite Musical Comedies; with original theme music by Peter Dizozza.

When: Thursday, September 20th, 2007, 6-9 p.m.
Where: New York City Bar Association, 42 West 44th St. (b/t 5th & 6th Avenues)
What: Panel discussion; free and open to the media and public

Join the NYC Bar for a lively talk with expert panelists on Turkey’s role in Europe. The topics to be discussed include the following:

  • Turkey’s EU accession within the context of EU enlargement
  • The Turkish perspective on EU accession
  • Key financial, legal, banking, and investment sector reforms
  • Recent political and constitutional issues and their impact on Turkey’s accession
  • Turkey’s relations with its border states as contrasted with EU’s foreign & security policy
  • Definitions of culture and society and the impact on Turkish-European relations
  • A Mediterranean Union?: The Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East
