Judicial Selection in New York State after López Torres:  The Impact on Minority Candidates

 

When: Monday, June 25, 2007, 6-8:30 p.m.

Where: New York City Bar, House of the Association, 42 West 44 th Street.

Representatives of minority bar associations discuss their views of New York State's judicial selection process and the current law's impact on minority candidates.  The panel will also address, in light of the López Torres case that challenged the constitutionality of the convention system, the relative advantages and disadvantages of the current system and alternatives that policy-makers should consider.
