IMPLEMENTING ENERGY COST-SAVING STRATEGIES IN NYC

OPPORTUNITIES FOR COOPS AND OTHER MULTI-FAMILY BUILDINGS TO MANAGE ENERGY DEMAND, CONSERVE ENERGY, AND/OR INSTALL ON-SITE COGENERATION AND RELATED LEGAL ISSUES

When: Tuesday, April 24 th, 6-8 pm

Where: House of the Association, 42 West 44th Street.

There is a compelling national and local concern about the high cost of energy, the need to address climate change, energy independence and energy reliability. Our buildings can provide a significant part of the solution while we save money. The solutions can be surprisingly simple - for example, by pricing electricity on an hourly basis instead of daily, consumers have incentive to use less power at peak times during the day, thus sparing the strain on the grid that requires building new power plants and backup generating facilities.

Program topics will include:

  • Evaluation of Energy Saving Opportunities and Auditing of Energy Use Within Your Building
  • Achieving Energy Savings by Installing Energy Conservation Equipment and Controls
  • Achieving Electric Savings through Submetering by Using Smartmeters
  • Saving By Using Voluntary Real-time Rates and Generating Income by Emergency Electric Curtailment
  • Seeking Monetary Incentives from NYSERDA or Participating in Con-Edison Energy Programs
