The Conversion of the Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York to For-Profit Status
The Most Appropriate Use of the Proceeds of the Conversion

When:
Thursday, June 16, 2005; at 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: House of the Association, 42 West 44 th Street

The conversion of the Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York from not-for-profit status to for-profit status is all but assured. Empire Blue Cross has already converted and the proceeds from that conversion, almost $4 billion, are still being held in escrow pending court determination. The use of the proceeds of the H.I.P. conversion has not yet been definitively determined. Join a panel of experts who will give their opinion on the most appropriate use of these proceeds in light of experience and precedents in other states. The leadoff speaker, Frank J. Branchini, president of GHI, a major not-for-profit insurer, will discuss the issue of the uninsured as it relates to the topic of the forum.
