In celebration of National Law
Day 2008, the Legal Referral Service
will hold a series of free legal information fairs in Manhattan, Queens,
Brooklyn, and the Bronx from April
29-May 2nd. These events offer citizens the opportunity to speak
with volunteer attorneys and representatives from various social service
agencies. Informational brochures and pamphlets on a wide range of legal
topics will also be available. Attorneys will be on hand to discuss issues
such as landlord/tenant, discrimination, small claims court, victim services,
immigration, consumer law, wills & trusts, workers compensation,
criminal law, matrimonial, small business issues, and more.
LRS sponsors these Law Day events every year and their popularity continues
to increase, with more agencies volunteering to participate each year.
Not surprisingly, the public is always extremely receptive to these events.
Everyone has legal questions, and most people do not know where to turn
for answers. Through its Law Day program, the Legal Referral Service
increases public awareness about the law and helps people solve their
legal problems.
