Websites and blogs that enable the posting of customer opinions are proliferating online. Unfortunately, some try to take unfair advantage of these consumer tools through “astroturfing” and other practices that aim to seed the internet with fake reviews – either positive or negative. This panel will explore some of the legal and ethical issues implicated, and how some sites and regulators have responded.
