In 1931, left-wing lawyer Hans Litten was a private prosecutor who summoned political party hack Adolf Hitler to testify as to whether his emerging National Socialist Party, more familiarly known as the Nazi Party, was forming secret commando units to kill political opponents. Once Hitler became Germany's dictator, he paid Litten back by sending him to a concentration camp, where Litten died a martyr to justice.
Speaker: BENJAMIN CARTER HETT, Associate Prof. of history at Hunter College and author of Crossing Hitler.
