There is increasing pressure on health care facilities and providers to disclose medical errors and adverse events to patients and their families. In deciding how to conduct these disclosure conversations, a hotly-debated issue is whether an apology should be offered. Our panel of health care experts and researchers will present differing perspectives on the benefits of and impediments to apology, as well as the fears and liability surrounding apology.
