2010 CITY BAR SUMMER SERIES: HOT PRACTICE AREAS - Technology Tuesday, August 3, 2010 6:30 pm
Registration:
Technology law sits at the intersection of intellectual property, contract law, consumer protection and privacy. It is a multi-disciplinary field that continually challenges its practitioners who freqently need to address the application of long-established principles to rapidly changing technologies. This program will present three veteran practitioners each representing a different facet of technology law practice - large law firm, technology and information company and consumer protection agency. They will discuss the various directions one can take a technology law career, where there are opportunities and the extent to which a technical background is necessary (less than you'd think!) or desirable.
Speakers:
Jeffrey Osterman
Partner, Technology and IP Transactions, Weil Gotshal
Karen Geduldig
Acting Chief, Internet Bureau, NYS Attorney General's Office
Natasha Wyss
VP, Principal Legal Counsel, Thomson Reuters
Presented by:
Committee on Career Advancement and Management, Carroll Welch, Chair; Committee on Health Law, Samuel Servello, Chair;
Committee on Immigration and Nationality Law, Mark Von Sternberg, Chair;
Committee on Information Technology Law, Jeffrey Osterman, Chair; Committee on Law Student Perspectives, Jodi Savage, Chair
