Head of UN Climate Change Efforts to Speak at City Bar

In conjunction with UN Climate Day, September 22, 2009, and Climate Week in the City of New York , the Association of the Bar of the City of New York is proud to present an address by

Dr. Yvo de Boer

Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the body of experts which is spearheading the negotiations on climate change and under whose auspices the Climate Summit will be held this December in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Dr. de Boer, considered by TIME MAGAZINE to be the “point man” for the United Nations efforts to plan a successor to the Kyoto Protocol, was formerly a top official in the Dutch ministry dealing with environment issues and a key figure in shaping the position of the European Union on the Kyoto Protocol. He has a long and illustrious background dealing in climate related issues going back several decades.

This meeting is sponsored by the United Nations Committee, the International Environmental Law Committee, the Environmental Law Committee, the International Human Rights Committee, the International Law Committee and the Council on International Affairs.
