Entertainment Law Committee

The Entertainment Law Committee focuses on matters of interest to entertainment law practitioners in all aspects of the entertainment industry including television, independent and documentary film, theater, record labels and music publishing, music rights organizations and new technologies. Our diverse membership is made up of solo practitioners, law firm associates and partners, in-house and business affairs counsel, academics and representatives from various non-profit organizations in media and the arts. Our monthly meetings include presentations by committee members and invited outside speakers with an expertise in the subject matter being discussed. During the past year, we have had presentations on virtual reality, the Hulk Hogan/Gawker litigation, the use of Abbott & Costello’s “Who’s on First” routine in the Broadway play Hand to God, the Hurt Locker decision as it relates to movie and television “life story rights” and the role of arbitration in entertainment industry disputes. We welcome members who are involved in the industry and can bring to the committee their perspective and expertise.
