City Bar Testifies in Albany on Judiciary Budget

On February 9th, City Bar President Sam Seymour provided testimony before the New York State Assembly Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees in support of the Judiciary’s proposed 2011-12 budget and its inclusion of $25 million in funding for civil legal services representation.

Mr. Seymour emphasized the constitutional duty of the Judiciary to provide meaningful access to justice, particularly for those who cannot afford counsel in cases involving fundamental human needs, and the broader benefits of having both parties represented in litigation.
